Tubes - It’s All About the Tubes

Last night, during my break from my first attempt to sleep, I watched Diggnation. One of their sponsors is a new company called Tubes. It is a cool new social network.
I am in the midst of diving in, but what caught my attention was the fact that the ‘tubes’ are a series of shared folders on your desktop. You can then put a variety of files into the folders. Once there, they are shared with a the people with whom you have invited to share the folders. Right now each account has a 2gig file storage limit (the premium service has up to 5gigs)
I see this more as a productivity tool. Right now I am shuffling a lot of files between two colleagues. For the large files we have been using You Send It. This has worked fine, but I like the idea of the new files just being there. I could see this having a lot of applications. I am hoping it will be an easier way for me to share files. Frankly, I get tired of answering the question ‘I see the attachment on my email, now what?’
As I’ve said, I am just now diving in, but I encourage you to take a look as well. http://www.tubesnow.com
Let me know what you think.
