3 New DwM Podcasts: Catholic Underground, Tupelo Catholic, and The Catholic Hack!

September 5th, 2007 by John Lamansky

This summer we’ve had three podcasts join the Disciples with Microphones Catholic podcast network. Welcome to the podcasters from Catholic Underground, Tupelo Catholic, and The Catholic Hack!

  • Catholic Underground - Join priests, deacons, seminarians, and other various people of the Church as they discuss the interrelationship of faith and tech. Following the call of Vatican II and Pope John Paul the Great to responsibly and corageously use media and new technology to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the gang of the catholic underground aim to do just that, thats why catholicunderground.com is truly faith gone digital.
  • Tupelo Catholic - A weekly podcast from a MS transplant couple from L.A. and Seattle. Rob is the Catholic convert from the Baptist faith, and Kristen is a cradle Catholic.
  • The Catholic Hack! - This is a Catholic podcast dealing in matters of apologetics, spirituality, Church teaching, and the Christian faith. Let’s have the courage to proclaim that which Christ died to give us.

Michael on The Catholic Guy: Sirius Radio

March 30th, 2007 by Michael Kreidler

Lino RulliIf you remember, I was interviewed on The Catholic Guy show on Sirius Satellite Radio last month. After some cajolling, calls, return calls, missed calls, emails, text messaging, bribery, and blackmail, I received a cd of the interview in the mail today.

I hope you enjoy it.

Thanks to The Catholic Guy’s producer, Maureen, for getting the interview to me. And a special thanks to Lino Rulli for being such a great interviewer.

Mini DwM Gathering

July 28th, 2006 by Michael Kreidler

iPadre (Fr. Finelli) was in Ohio from Rhode Island and so I took the opportunity to drive down to Steubenville and meet him. Jim Coyle and Fr. Seraphim of Catholic:Under the Hood fame joined us. We talked about all things podcasting for about 2 1/2 hours before praying together and me heading home.

It was a great time and below are pictures of our little gathering. Enjoy.

The iPadre A great person, good listener, and one who strikes me as very pastoral. His parish is blessed to have him as their priest.

The Jim You can’t see it here, but if you look closely to the side of Jim’s shirt with the pocket there is a wire leading up to his head. Jim has a Borg-like implant in his other ear. Probably to stay in contact with the collective.

The Fr. Seraphim (Is he sleeping???)

The I. I was feeling a bit unfocused. I was surprised it came across in the picture. (Must be the medication)

The conversation ranged from XML feed management to field equipment to plans for a DwM gathering in Gaming, Austria. Also, note the Borg-like implant in Jim’s ear. Kinda spooky!

There has never before been a group that so needed to get into the sun than the four you see here. We are all so white that the camera had trouble dealing with our dark clothes and our shockingly bright faces.

It was such a joy to at last meet Fr. Finelli. I am so glad Fr. Seraphim and Jim Coyle took the time to sit and just talk shop for a while.

If you are going to be in Ohio, let me know. Who knows, we might just get a chance to meet and talk podshop!

In the News: George Leite & Catholic Rockers

July 18th, 2006 by Michael Kreidler

There was a article that ran on Sunday, July 16th in the Sentinel & Enterprise (Massachusetts). It covered DwM’s own George Leite and his Catholic Rocker’s podcast. It is an extensive article and well worth reading.

Currently it is available (without pics) online. The newspaper’s policy, however, is to only guarantee it be available for 14 days. This being the case, I have posted a scan of the article (page 1 page 2). If access to the article becomes problematic I will post it fully online myself.

Enjoy.

DwM in OSV

July 10th, 2006 by Michael Kreidler

The most recent issue of Our Sunday Visitor has an excellent piece on podcasting where Disciples with Microphones features prominently. The article was written by Gail Besse who did a great job of distilling podcasting and godcasting in such an understandable and approachable way.

I was pleased that Our Sunday Visitor (OSV) sent us a pdf of the article along with permission to post it. The best way for you to show your appreciation for this and OSV’s other outstanding articles is to subscribe. You can do so at the OSV website.

I hope you enjoy the article.

[A special tip of the cane to Jim for getting article and permission to post it.]
