There once was a man who had two sons
One of them old, the other one young
The young boy said “Hey dad, we need to talk”.
So father and son, they went on a walk.
The young boy said, “Hey dad, I know the scene,
You always loved my brother more than me.
I’ll bet you when you die he gets it all.
He’ll be laughing and singing and having a ball.
I’ll be left out in the cold without a cent.
With only my good looks to pay the rent”.
The father said, “Son, you’ve been deceived.
I love both of you equally”.
The son said, “Prove it now. I want half the estate.
I want it now before it’s too late”.
So, the father gave his son cash in hand
And the son went off to a foreign land.
Well, he partied so hardy, he had a blast.
He lived his life so very fast.
He had fast women and fast cars and all of that stuff.
No matter what he did he couldn’t get enough.
He had people around him all the time
Until he spent his very last time.
Then he was out in the cold without a cent
And even his good looks couldn’t pay the rent
So, he worked for a farmer for a place to stay.
He slopped the pigs and he baled the hay.
When he at last saw himself as he was
He said, ‘I’ll go to dad’s place, just because,
His servants eat better than me.
All I can do is go back and then I’ll see,
If he’ll take me in as a hired hand.
Not as a son and not as a man.
‘Cause I’m lower than low.
I’m the scum of the earth.
He’s probably embarrassed when he remembers my birth’
So he started on the journey.
He traveled night and day.
It finally happened when he was still far away.
His father saw him and to him he ran.
That’s when the celebration began.
They partied so hearty, they had a blast
The father killed the fatted calf.
When the older brother saw it, he said, ‘Hey what’s this’
And when he found out he was really. . . MAD!
He said, “Hey dad, I know the scene,
You always loved this guy more than me.
So go ahead and party and see if I care.
But if you’re looking for me, I’ll be over there.
The father said, “Son, you’ve been deceived.
I love both of you equally.
Listen to what I’m sayin’ get it into your head
Your brother here has come back from the dead.
So we can stay outside and continue to fight
Or we can go inside and party all night!”
So, they went inside and had so much fun
A father and his two beloved sons.
Well, that’s the end of the story.
That’s the end of the score.
But there is just a little bit more:
Let’s none of us ever be deceived
The Father loves each of us equally.
