Arinze - Podcasting with a Vatican Official (Podcast Info)
This is podcast #25. It's been a year already. Let no-one doubt anymore that the Church is using the new media to evangelize. Here we have a Vatican Cardinal podcasting with the help of the Laity!
On July 16th Cardinal Arinze ordained Father Klemens Hasencox. Listen to the sermon he gave during that mass which proves to be challenging for both clerics and lay persons alike. Did you hear the plug he gives this Apostolate? Isabel brings to you her coffee confessions, the Family Apostolate is going to Russia and Rob talks about his experience in Familyland, Ohio.
We want to ask all of you to help spread the Cardinal Arinze logo on all appropriate blogs. Copy it from the sidebar on this page. Link it to http://arinze.familylandeurope.com. Then let us know you did so. Help transform the world. Thanks!
Date: August 23, 2006It was Cardinal Arinze's 20th year visiting Catholic Familyland. This time the video interviews with Jerry Coniker where about Pope John Paul II's Theology of the Body and Pope Benedict XVI's Deus Caritas Est. I was able to watch the recordings live and stepped in for a video introduction. I knew I would be nervous because I'm not the kind of person to do a one-take official opening, but I was somehow hoping it wouldn't show. I'll be using the auto cue next time ;-). Nevertheless, the Cardinal is in top shape and will captivate his new and faithful podcast audience. A video podcast for you to enjoy. I hope you like it. Next time we'll be back to audio.

Byzantine Catholic Word (Podcast Info)
Welcome to the Byzantine Catholic Word, a podcast of the daily scripture readings of the Byzantine Catholic Church. The lectionary that is used is the schedule of readings produced by the Archeparchy of Pittsburgh. After searching online for daily scripture readings, there was none for the Byzantine Catholic Church, so after much thought and prayer, I decided to start one. I hope this will be a blessing to you, and feel free to leave any comments or suggestions.

Saint Teresa of Avila - The Book of Her Life 8.5-6
"How great is the good that God works in the soul when He gives it a disposition to pray in earnest though it may not be so well prepared as it ought to be. If that soul perseveres in spite of sins, temptations and relapses (brought about in a thousand ways by Satan) our Lord will bring it at last to the harbor of salvation as He has brought me myself. May His majesty grant I may never go back and be lost. He who gives himself to prayer is in possession of a great blessing of which many saintly men have written. I am speaking of mental prayer. Glory be to God for it!
Let him never cease from prayer who has once begun it, be his life ever so wicked, for prayer is the way to amend it and without prayer such amendment will be much more difficult. As to him who has not begun to pray, I implore him, by the love of our Lord, not to deprive himself of so great a good.”

Date: August 27, 2006St. Teresa of Avila - Interior Castle 1.1
"Consider our soul to be like a castle made entirely out of a diamond or of very clear crystal, in which there are many rooms, just as in heaven there are many dwelling places. For in reflecting upon it carefully, Sisters, we realize that the soul of the just person is nothing else but a paradise where the Lord says He finds His delight. So then, what do you think that abode will be like where a King so powerful, so wise, so pure, so full of all good things takes His delight? I don’t find anything comparable to the magnificent beauty of a soul and its marvelous capacity. Indeed, our intellects, however keen, can hardly comprehend it, just as they cannot comprehend God; but He Himself says that He created us in His own image and likeness."

Date: August 20, 2006St. Teresa of the Andes - letter 114 (pg. 262)
"With each passing day, I understand better that "God alone suffices." That is the maxim I have on my cross. May it be yours, too. Seek God and you will have everything. Created things, what can they offer us but the finite things they are. Detach yourself from them. Search for God there in the depths of your soul. When you are sad, tell God about it, and you will find yourself cheerful, because He'll make you understand that as God He endured, suffered more for you than all human beings have ever suffered. He has not only endured more but has suffered infinitely.
Do everything for love of Him. Don't seek to please human beings. They're so mistaken in their judgments...! God sees deeply within you at every moment, as though you were the only person alive. Be aware that as you sleep, as you work and live, there is an infinite Being concerned with giving you life, with loving you eternally and infinitely...! How I wish I could fill you with these thoughts which make everything else pale in comparison, so that there is nothing before you but God! Then, what peace, what joy we might experience. Then we would understand that He is our center. Then we would be living the life of love, the life of heaven...”

Date: August 13, 2006Saint Therese of Lisieux - Prayer 1
July 18, 1893 taken from a letter Thérèse written to her sister, Céline.
“When I am feeling nothing, when I am incapable of praying, then is the moment for seeking opportunities, nothings, which please Jesus more than mastery of the world or even martyrdom suffered with generosity. For example, a smile, a friendly word when I would want to say nothing, or put on a look of annoyance. It is the little crosses that are our whole joy. They are more common that big ones and prepare the heart to receive the latter when this is the will of our good Master.”
